Eastern Equatoria artists defended their music that MP considered immoral that the public misinterpret the songs.
 
Radio Emmanuel talked to senior lyrical composer of ‘Nyanya’ one of the songs the state Parliament termed immoral and abusive to females.
 
He and his fans said the songs were educative to girls to guide them against shameless men and that ‘Nyanya’ means food and nothing else.
 
Musicians and fans appealed to state authorities to give time to understand songs and interpret the meanings properly before censoring.
 
Eastern Equatoria state MPs term some of the songs immoral and abusive to women.
 
Cross sections of citizens in Torit town including the speaker of the Assembly supported the resolution of the parliament to censor some songs.
 
Chairpersons of education committee in the state Parliament Angela Ajan on Monday said immoral songs should be censored.
 
Eastern Equatoria Information and Parliamentary Affairs minister Clement Loku told media houses to work according to ethics.
