BOSS Governor directs Commercial Banks to pay shares

Central Bank of South Sudan Governor or BOSS on Tuesday directed all Commercial Banks to pay their remaining capital shares.
 
Cornelio Koryom Mayik told the media after meeting Commercial Banks Managing Directors that it was important for the banks to pay legal capital shares for business community to get loans.
 
He added that the strength of a bank to compete with other banks defends on its huge capital.
 
Mr Koryom revealed that the law requires local banks to pay 50 Million US Dollars and foreign banks to pay 30 Million US Dollars. 
 
He blamed security organs for allowing unlicensed people to illegally sell dollars on streets. 
 
Mr Koryom said it was the Central Bank that gives commercial banks dollars.
 
South Sudan has 27 Commercial Banks in Juba with branches in the states’ capitals.
