A group of language researchers from Italy are researching on the Juba Arabic to find South Sudanese interest and possibility to development it into a national language.
A linguist from the University of Naples in Italy Stefano Manfredi said they are researching and developing Juba Arabic because it has many meanings and independent compared to other African languages.
He said they will publish an article on Juba Arabic and other social linguistics.
Dr Manfredi said they are working on English-Juba Arabic dictionary to be published in 2014.
He said they in collaboration with the University of Juba will also write Juba Arabic to be used freely in the internet.
Juba University Head of Arabic Language Siham M. Osman said Juba Arabic is a very important business language in the country.
She said they are planning to develop Juba Arabic into a national language because it can create nationalism among South Sudanese.
Ms Siham said they want to upgrade Juba Arabic because all people across the ten states of South Sudan understand it.
Juba University College of Education Arabic Language Department in collaboration with Turin and Naples Universities on Wednesday conducted a seminar on Juba Arabic.
