The Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio returned from a two-week journey to Germany.

Bishop Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kusala told the clergy on Friday that his mission to Germany aimed to advocate for the fellow Christians in Sudan, Anisa Radio reported.

He said he met with international committees, the European Union and the German government to lobby for their help to speak on behalf of the minorities in the Sudan and pressurized the Sudanese government to respect the right of other faiths.

Bishop Hiiboro said the Sudanese government oppressed the Church, priests and missionaries after the South Sudan’s independence.

He added that the Church in Sudan suffers a lot from mistreatment and destruction of properties.

Bishop Hiiboro said foreign and national priests are denied VISAs to travel in and out of the country.
