The latest wave of intense interethnic violence in Jonglei Sate is affecting more than 100 thousand people in Pibor and Pochalla counties.
The violence broke out in March and got worse at the beginning of July when thousands of heavily armed Lou Nuer youth attacked Murle communities in Pibor County.
UNOCHA said 256 people were airlifted from Manyabol to Bor for medical treatment for gunshot wounds between July 14 and 17.
It added that the recent violence displaced 602 people to Bor, over 6,780 to Central Equatoria and 568 to Eastern Equatoria.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan, Toby Lanzer, tweeted that ‘neither the UN nor any other organisation has issued firm or estimated casualty figures because it is impossible to arrive at such a count.’
