South Sudan AIDS Commission is targeting to treat at least 12 thousand people living with HIV AIDS.
Chairperson Esterina Novello said currently only 5,186 patients are accessing treatment but the majority is hiding because they fear to come out and get HIV drugs.
She revealed that the US government agreed to support the Commission to treat HIV patients for the next two years.
Dr Novello appealed to all South Sudanese HIV activists to work together to fight the killer endemic.
She urged the people living with HIV to effectively contribute in educating the common people to protect themselves and others from HIV AIDS countrywide.
The chairperson advised HIV patients to start awareness campaigns with their nucleus families to enlarge to the whole nation.
She said South Sudan is one of the countries in the world where women are the most affected people with HIV AIDS.
Dr Novello was speaking during a consultative meeting with people living with HIV in Juba on Friday.
The meeting drew together 20 people living with HIV from Lakes, Upper Nile, Western Bahr El Ghazal, Western Equatoria, Eastern Equatoria and Central Equatoria States.
