The SPLM-North expressed its readiness to cease hostilities with the government to allow a vaccination campaign in Nuba Mountains.

SPLM-North spokesperson Arnu Ngatulu Lodi told Voice of Peace via email that
the leadership discussed the humanitarian situation as a matter of priority in Nuba Mountains.

He said the SPLM-N accepted the idea of cessation of hostilities to facilitate a vaccination campaign.

Mr Lodi said SPLM-N accepted the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei or UNISFA to carry out the necessary arrangements for the safety of the vaccination programme and provide logistics in the SPLM-N controlled areas.

The spokesperson said SPLM-N stopped shelling Kadugli because it affected UNISFA’s headquarters in the capital of South Kordofan.

He said SPLM-N was ready to stop hostilities and respect the presence of UNISFA to facilitate the vaccination campaign and access of humanitarian aid in Nuba Mountains.
