The National Election Commission is lobbying for funds to organize elections for county councilors, commissioners and governors in Unity and Lakes states.
Commission chairman Abenigo Akok said he was in the parliament to push the House to approve his Commission’s budget, Bakhita Radio reported.
Prof Akok said the Commission needed at least 45 million South Sudanese Pounds to establish high committees in the ten states.
Lakes State Information Minister Dut Kuok said the authorities are waiting to receive a date for elections and the okay from the National Elections Commission in Juba.
Mr Kuok said citizens across Lakes State, including the opposition leaders, celebrated the appointment of the caretaker governor in January.
He said Lakes Council of State in its sitting last week approved the existence of the caretaker governor even after his 60 days expired.
