African Education Trust or AET on Friday graduated 130 trainees in English after an intensive course at Hai Malakal Basic School in Juba.

AET manager Jackson Okello said the graduates attended courses for beginners and intermediate English, Bakhita Radio reported.

He added that this is twenty-second batch graduating in Central Equatoria State.

AET graduated 2,000 trainees since it began operations in 2007.

Hai Malakal Basic Primary School headmaster John Mahika cited challenges including lack of accommodation and desks for learners.

Graduate Jane Charles Wani said she could speak, write and read English after the three-month course.

She added that it was easier to learn English than Arabic and she was ready to be employed as she knows both languages.

The graduation brought together the Alternative Education System Director-General in the national education ministry, his state counterpart and UNICEF Education Advisor.
