The Government of Japan donated 13 million US dollars to South Sudan through a live saving project.
Japanese ambassador to South Sudan Takeshi Akamatsu said the 13 million US dollars are part of the Japanese supplementary budget to be used to help vulnerable population in the country, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said four million US dollar will be used for health and nutrition supplies.
Ambassador Akamatsu added that the project will first go to UNICEF to be handed to the national Health ministry.
National health Undersecretary Matur Makur Koryom said the offer will boost the government’s effort in fighting malnutrition in the country.
Dr Koryom pointed out that more efforts are needed to tackle malnutrition.
South Sudan Government and development partners last week launched the Scale Up Nutrition Movement.
