Gunmen kidnapped a child in Langabu village of Lirya payam in Central Equatoria state.
Central Equatoria State Local Government Inspector Christopher Sebit told Bakhita Radio in a telephone interview that the ten-year old male child was kidnapped on Sunday.
He added that villagers from Langabu and Lirya tried to recover the child by following the kidnappers but did not find them.
Mr Sebit said villagers are still following the footprints of the kidnappers.
Kidnapping is common in South Sudan.
Kidnappers use abducted children to exchange for cattle.
