Police in Ezo County is detaining a number of suspects of the textbook looting that occurred last Saturday in Ezo Senior Secondary School for further investigations.

Ezo Press Officer Martin Zagi told Anisa Radio that the police recovered some books from the streets and some in the houses of individuals living near the school.

He stated that the suspects were identified as illiterate people because the books were misused and spread along the streets.

Mr Zagi mentioned that World Vision donated reference books of novels, literature, English and sciences from the United States.

On Tuesday, Ezo Commissioner Mathew Alcelmon Mabu convened a meeting with the County Education director plus the school headmaster to discuss the root causes of the incident.

The meeting concluded that the watchman is reluctant on his job, some of the shelves were already affected by the termites and then there was no regular supervision and exploitation of the books for quite a long time.

The Commissioner urged the school administration to address the matter.
