UBG ADMINISTRATION DISAGREES COLLEGES TRANSFER

University of Bahr El Ghazal or UBG administration totally disagreed on the national government decision to transfer Medicine and Veterinary Sciences Colleges to Juba.

Deputy Vice Chancellor Charles Ephganio Wani said the transfer of the two colleges was neither in the interest of the university nor the students.

He said the board urged high authority to reverse the decision by availing money for teaching staffs.

Prof Wani said the transfer of Medicine College to Juba was a total deprivation of the community from services because it was offering medical services to the people.

HeÊ said moving the college will call for lecturers to pay expensive rents in Juba and staff will automatically lose their jobs since Juba will need to recruit new staff.

Prof Wani attributed the failure of renovation Agok site to the ministry of higher education. Because it did not finish and the contracted company, TRICOM terminated the contract.

He blamed the national government for delaying the renovation, saying the university was not given full authority to supervise the work.

Prof Wani declined to comment on the national Higher Education minister claims that the transfer case was politicized.
