The National Legislative Assembly in its sitting on Monday passed the Agricultural Bank of South Sudan Bill 2013 with some amendments.

President of the Republic returned the bill to the National Legislature with some observations.

Development, Economy and Finance Committee chairperson in the Assembly Paul Loggale Jumi said the President observed that the board should consist of eleven members with the chairperson, managing director and deputy appointed by the President recommended by Finance minister.

He said in the President’s observation, the Finance minister appoints six members representing national government recommended by the Central Bank governor.

Professor Logale said the Central Bank governor appoints the other four members to represent private sector.

The leader of the minority in the Assembly, Onyoti Adigo disagreed with the idea that the President should appoint board of directors’ chairperson, the managing director and deputy.

The deputy speaker of the National Legislative Assembly Mary Nyaulang chaired the sitting.
