Moremi Initiative Leadership and Empowerment Development or MILEAD in Africa announced that there is a South Sudanese woman among the selected fellows.
Viola Joseph Ukel Abango is one of the 28 MILEAD 2013 selected fellows, Voice of Hope reported.The 28 selected fellows represent Africa’s most outstanding emerging and promising young women leaders with the courage to lead and shape the future of the continent.
Ms Ukel was recognized for her growing contribution to South Sudan as an educator, activist, broadcaster and a blogger.
She shared with Voice of Hope her experience and contribution that raised her to the Moremi Initiative.
Ms Ukel is a teaching assistant at the University of Bahr El Ghazal and will travel to Accra, Ghana, early June to join MILEAD fellows in the leadership institute for a three-week intensive training.
The 28 successful candidates were selected from more than 2,000 applicants from 44 countries in Africa.
The institute will serve as a platform for fellows to cross-examine concepts of leadership in a broad African context, cultivate the skills and experience necessary to occupy and excel in leadership position.
The fellows are expected to gain knowledge on issues critical to African women and their communities.
