The operation of night discos and clubs in Yei’s residential areas beyond the official hours is causing sleepless nights to locals.
Paul Ohisa, who lives in Hai Tarawa, told Radio Easter that he is not happy because loud music affects students who want to do homework, and attracts thieves and insecurity to the area. The county’s spokesperson Epriam Jomo Michael, who is also the inspector of information and culture, condemned the practice.
Mr Jomo appealed to disco and night clubs operators to turn down the sound of their music.
He encouraged the public not to keep silent over the issue.
In October last year, the county authority issued a local order regulating disco and bars operations that should close at 10:00 PM.
