Rebels of David Yau Yau who briefly captured Boma town are still occupying parts of Boma National Park.
Army spokesman Philip Aguer told CRN in a telephone interview on Monday that up Sunday Yau Yau’s forces were still controlling some parts of Boma Park including Muruo.He said situation may change within the next 24 hours because the army is on the way to bring it under government control and restore law and order in the area.
Colonel Aguer said all the residential areas were not destroyed by the clashes between the army and the rebels.
He said the SPLA command in Boma called on displaced citizens to return to their homes.
Colonel Aguer admitted that some of the areas in Boma Payam are still under rebel control, but the army will clear those areas within a short time.
He said the army entered Boma and found that citizens vacated the area because Yau Yau’s forces told them to leave.
Mr Yau Yau claimed that he was fighting for minority groups to have a free state in Pibor.
