REBELS DENY KILLING UN PEACEKEEPERS

The rebel group South Sudan Democratic Movement/Army said it did not kill five UN peacekeepers and seven civil personnel in Jonglei State on Tuesday.

The movement led by David Yau Yau said in a statement CRN received the accusations labelled against their forces were not true.

The statement said claims by the government in Juba were unfounded.

It added that they were designed to tarnish the image ofÊSouth Sudan Democratic Movement/ArmyÊforces fighting to build and consolidate independent institutions in the country.

The statement said the rebels did not have forces in the area where the UN personnel were killed.

The statement called on the UNMISS to launch an investigation to discover who killed their peacekeepers.
