The SPLM-N said the statement attributed to Adnan Khan, the WFP Director in Khartoum, of a “major breakthrough in the humanitarian situation in Blue Nile State” is misleading and does not reflect the actual situation.
Secretary General Yasir Arman issued a statement on Friday saying Khartoum allowed the WFP to work in a limited area controlled by the government and they made big news out of that.He added that the government of Khartoum intensified aerial and ground attacks in Blue Nile throughout the last month, and they are sending more troops to the state.
Mr Arman said the real news is that Khartoum is denying access for humanitarian assistance to around one million of civilians in SPLM-N controlled areas in Blue Nile and Nuba Mountains.
He accused Khartoum of continuing to use food as a weapon to annihilate the civilian populations systematically.
