Western Bahr El Ghazal concluded on Wednesday the State Inter-School Sport Competitions that involved 20 schools in Wau and Raja County under the theme “Sport, a Bridge for Interaction and Peace.”
The competition began on January and concluded with some delays for untold reasons by the Department of Extra-curriculum in the State Ministry of Education and Instruction, Voice of Hope reported.Wau Complex beat Gerenti Secondary 3-1 on the football final at Isaac Stadium.
Two boys from Wau External Secondary School got gold in the 200 and 800 meters.
Josella Feto Fetor of Seka Hadid Primary won the 200 meter junior girls race, and Christina John Rodulf of Wau Secondary School won 100, 200, and 800 meter races for senior girls.
Wau Girls Secondary School held the Volleyball cup and Wau External Secondary School got the boys’ cup.
Governor Rizik Zachariah Hassan reassured the state’s commitment to develop sports and said the government will fully sponsor the wining students.
He called on the State Ministry of Sport and Youth to register the names of the best athletes and take good care of them.
Governor Zachariah assured that sport and culture would be basic subjects in the current academic year in order to build a peaceful nation.
Government schools students performed better than students from private establishments.
