The Toposa community appreciated the quick response from local and international communities sending food to Greater Kapoeta hunger victims.
Northern Bahr El Gazal, Abyei and Central Equatoria states contributed food and non-food items to fight the hunger situation in Kapoeta, Radio Emmanuel reported.WFP or World Food Programme has also started emergency food distribution in the most affected areas.
State MP Peter Lokuju Marcelo said the community is thankful to those who assisted the people of Kapoeta.
He explained that the food was little for the large population and the authorities formed a distribution committee to avoid violence against the chiefs.
Kapoeta South Commissioner Martin Lorika witnessed the arrival of the donation from Central Equatoria brought by the state minister for Social Development.
He thanked for the two lories of mixed items that included wheat flour, salt and maize flour, saying Central Equatoria is the mother of Greater Equatoria.
Commissioner Lorika urged the states that contributed to alleviate the suffering of the Toposa community to maintain the spirit of solidarity.
He noted that World Food Programme started distributing items to the hunger victims in three payams but it was not enough.
Kapoeta East Commissioner Titus Lokwachuma joined the rest of Toposa leaders to extend gratitude to states that offered donations to rescue the people of Greater Kapoeta from hunger.
