Three hundred forty six young people and babies have joined the family of Jesus Christ through the sacraments of baptism and Holy Communion in the Catholic Diocese of Torit during Easter festival.
The new entrants into the Church include 255 infants baptized at various parishes in the diocese and 32 catechumens. Fifty five young Christians received Holy Communion, Radio Emmanuel reported.Sacred Heart of Jesus-Chukudum parish baptized the highest number of infants: 100. Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral Parish in Torit baptized 55 infants and 32 catechumens; 44 people received Holy Communion for the fist time.
Kormus Eucharistic centre in Imurok Payam had 49 infants baptized, St. Patrick’s Nimule Parish 41 infants, Katire Eucharistic Centre 20 and Our Lady of Assumption-Torit 15.
Fr Arkangelo Lokoro baptised infants at Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral.
Fr Lokoro instructed the parents and godparents to bring up the infants in the practice of their faith.
He asked parents and godparents to protect the children from the power of Satan.
Radio Emmanuel tried to get similar information from Loa and Palotaka parishes but failed due to poor mobile network.
