An arsonist burned to ashes a drugstore at Bidii Bada Boma of Makundi Payam, Wulu County of Lakes State.

The man identified as Dolai Dafalla from Makor Payam in Mvolo County, Western Equatoria, on Friday night set ablaze the drugstore.

MP Shadrack Bol Machok told Good News Radio that Save the Children stocked the drugstore with a one month’s consignment a day before the incident.

The drug store served Makundi Payam and the surrounding areas.

Mr Bol said the suspect was immediately arrested and is under custody in Mvolo County.

The MP explained that Mr Dafalla’s act was a provocation from the neighbouring Sufi Community of Laam over a brewing territorial dispute with Bidi Badaai Boma.

Mr Bol said the Laam community resettled in Bidi Badaai as IDPs during the 2006 inter-tribal conflict.

He added that the community decided to remain there indefinitely and wanted to annex Bidi Badaai of Wulu County to Western Equatoria.

He accused former Commissioner Paul Nuer Tier of Mvolo of having masterminded the plan during his tenure.

Mr Bol urged the people of Bidi Badaai not to respond to the provocations.

He added that the issue should be quickly solved between Lakes and Western Equatoria governments.
