Dozens of soldiers were wounded on Thursday when their convoy was ambushed by militias along the Boma-Pochalla Road in Jonglei State.
On Friday afternoon, a CRN journalist saw a military convoy of a dizen pickups escorted by a military ambulance carrying injured soldiers to the Military Hospital in Juba .Army spokesperson Philip Aguer told CRN over the phone that the soldiers were opening the road connecting Boma, Pibor, Linwanggole and Bor when they were ambushed by David Yau Yau’s forces.
He said the soldiers being transported to hospital were injured on Thursday.
Colonel Aguer added that he had no exact figures of wounded and dead in the ambush.
The Army spokesperson said he could not comment on why the wounded soldiers were transported in open vehicles exposed to public view.
He said it was an administrative issue concerning the people who transported the wounded soldiers.
