The communities of Ombasi, Kabengere and Yeiba in Otogo Payam of Yei River County, Central Equatoria, want to repair the Yei River bridge linking Otogo and Mugwo Payam.

Yeiba sub boma sub Chief James Guya Lomaya said the condition of the bridge in Yeiba was bad and people had difficulty to cross it when the river flooded during heavy rains, Radio Easter reported.

Mr Guya urged the people to support the repairing of the bridge to end the suffering of Kisengani, Kambekere and Dangaru residents since flooding hindered their movement.

Community resource person Samuel Ganya revealed that the bridge repair will cost 22,785 pounds and the community should contribute with 30 percent of it.

He added that the communities have proposed to contribute 6,000 thousands pounds but got only got 3,000 pounds being used to transport the materials for the repair works.

Mr Ganya urged the county authority to help in the repair of the bridge because it boasts the dream of the late John Garang to bring towns to the villages.
