A national NGO is conducting a two-day workshop to empower Lakes State youth leaders with the necessary skills to do their job.

CEPO, the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization, organized the workshop to equip youth leaders to engage in conflict resolution, participation in public accountability forums and early warning report of conflicts in the State.

CEPO Lakes State coordinator Majier Isaac Majok told Good News Radio that it was time for the youth to get into the affairs of the State and forget the common excuse that the state and the country were too young to tackle issues of development.

He urged the youth to reject traditional practices that fuel conflicts and embrace new ideas for the benefit of society.

CEPO works in areas of peace, conflict resolution mitigation and governance in Lakes State.

The organization successfully supported the Commissioners’ Forum last December and several community peace dialogues.
