The Catholic bishop of Yei urged Christians to balance their lives between joys and sorrows because the two complement each other.
Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe lamented that people tended to get discouraged when they experienced personal and social hardships, Radio Easter reported. He said God was more present in times of suffering than in times of joy.
Bishop Lodu underlined that faith needed the strength of prayer to grow.
He warned that sometimes people left God out of their lives.
The bishop said Christians needed to rediscover the meaning of the three pillars of Lent: prayer, fasting and sharing.
Bishop Lodu decried that many people only go to God during hard times, forgetting about him during the time of joy and happiness.
He made these statements during his Sunday homily at Yei’s Christ the King Cathedral.
