Court hearings for those arrested after December’s violence in Wau are expected to begin on Tuesday.
The hearings, presided over by three judges, will be divided in three different groups.On February 19, three judges arrived from Juba to preside over the court hearings, procedures, and rule out the cases pinned against the suspects for Wau violence.
A source inside the Wau High Court told Voice of Hope that judicial procedures to start the hearings were finalized and that each of the three judges was dedicated to look into a group of specific cases.
The same source said the court hearing will begin on Tuesday at Wau North Court, and the hearings will be public and open for all media houses.
No recording is allowed inside the court.
The source did not provide details about the three kinds of cases suspects were grouped into and the actual number of accused.
Last week, Amnesty International released a report accusing Western Bahr El Ghazal government of arresting suspects without warrants.
The report said 100 suspects were being detained in Wau Central Prison, including senior politicians, civil servants, activists and journalists.
