Drinking was blamed for the clashes that led to the death of six people among the cattle camp youth of Rumbek East County in Mvolo, Western Equatoria, last Tuesday.
Lakes caretaker Governor Matur Chut Dhuol said on Sunday that the youths that fought at a dance ground in Mvolo were reportedly drunk, Radio Good News reported.He said the youths first fought with sticks but the following morning they used guns and three people were killed on the spot.
The caretaker Governor said the conflict extended to Rumbek East County when a relative back home took revenge and killed an alleged opponent.
Mr Chut said four prime suspects have been arrested and two more are being hunted down.
He said the authorities ordered the chiefs to arrest 50 youths from each side that was involved in the conflict.
The caretaker Governor added that the suspects would be interrogated immediately to find out the root cause of the conflict.
Mr Chut said after interrogations, the youths would be asked to produce their guns, register and hand them over to authorities.
