The Council of Ministers in its Friday’s ordinary meeting approved a 92-million dollars budget for the 2014 Census.
Telecommunication Minister Madut Biar Yel told reporters that the National Bureau of Statistics presented the budget long time ago, but that the council deliberated and passed it on Friday.He explained that population census was a very crucial national issue.
Mr Biar said part of the money will be paid by the Government. Donors will pay the other part.
He explained that the National Bureau of Statistics will meet with the donors and the finance ministry to decide how much the Government will pay as a commitment for the first phase and how much donors will contribute to the budget.
The minister added that the 2014 census will be carried in two phases: training and enumeration.
