The Peace and Justice Commission of the Catholic Diocese of Wau started the second youth conference on peaceful co-existence under the theme “To get peace you must work for justice.”
The conference drew more than 100 representatives from different places across the state.Catholic Bishop Rudolf Deng Majak of Wau told the gathering Monday morning at the University of Bahr El Ghazal that the upcoming generation was to meet more leadership hurdles, Voice of Love reported.
Bishop Deng said the youth should prepare well and have clear goals to lead the most difficult generation.
He asserted that leadership is getting more difficult after every generation and better leaders have to be groomed.
Bishop Deng explained that advocacy and peace building were needed if the youth were to be equipped with the tools of peace.
He advised the youth to get rid of laziness and its associated evils of corruption and put Christ ahead of their adventure.
Sheik Ali Hassan Ali of the Muslim Community in Wau noted that the youth all over South Sudan needed to be taught the doctrine if they are to achieve their dreams.
The sheik clarified that no religion in the world preaches war but peaceful co-existence.
He added that both Muslims and Christians should work together.
Sheik Ali disapproved the perception that Islam is only for the Arabs.
He said Islam was the religion for everybody since it preached discipline as other religions in the world did.
