The Catholic Diocese of Wau has concluded on Friday evening its second pastoral and strategic planning process ahead of the general assembly next month.
A preliminary planning process was held in November where all parishes presented priorities and pastoral plans to be incorporated in the diocesan strategic plan.More than 30 representatives from 16 parishes met in Wau since Tuesday articulating the most needed social services that will act as a frame work plan for the diocese in various parishes in the next five years.
Wau Diocesan Development Advisor Sebastian Kaemf told Voice of Hope that the need for social services, including education and health, were generally expressed as priority.
He said there was a big gap between the parishes in town and in the countryside.
Mr Kaemf explained that poor infrastructure limits pastoral activities in most parishes.
He hailed the great commitment exerted by most parishes during the planning process.
Mr Kaemf said the draft of the planning process will be compiled and presented to the general assembly in March.
He added that with the approval of the general assembly the plan becomes the general guideline in the diocese for the next five years.
The planning process has been assisted by Christian Organization for Research and Advisory Trust for Africa (CORAT), a consultant firm.
