The head merchant at Tonj market in of Warrap State urged all fellow sellers to reduce the prices on grains and other food stuffs to help the people.

Lual Bol told Don Bosco FM on Thursday that prices were high due to exchange rates and the high costs of transport.

He said prices of imported drinks, including soda and beer, could not be reduced.

Mr Bol informed that a litre of petrol in Tonj fell from 18 to 15 pounds.

He added that locally made clothing was cheaper while imported cloths remained the same.

Mr Bol said he was confident that other Tonj sellers would reduce prices in order to help out the people short of cash.
