Raiders threatened to steal cattle in Tonj South County of Warrap State on Sunday.
Tonj South police commissioner, Joseph Mayiei, told Don Bosco Radio that raiders threatened people in Gum Rot, Temtok and Lac Cok.He said the raiders were seen around 10 PM on Sunday and he and his officers were called by phone to help the people in Temtok.
Eye witnesses said the raiders came in a large group, all of them carrying guns and moving in the direction of Tonj.
They added that the raiders fled into the bush when they saw the lights and vehicles of the police.
Mr Mayiei urged all cattle keepers not to take their cows across Tonj River and to remain on the safer side close to Tonj.
He added that anyone who wanted to sell or take their cows to another area outside Tonj should carry a document issued by C.I.D. police proving the cows’ ownership.
Mr Mayiei told Tonj cattle keepers not to attack or seek revenge for the raiders.
