SITUATION CALM IN RENK AFTER SATURDAY’S ATTACK

The situation in Renk County of Upper Nile is calm following a number of attacks in Bab El Nil area on Saturday by the Sudanese army killing one soldier and wounding another seven.

Army spokesperson Philip Aguer told CRN on Monday in a phone interview that the Sudanese army ground forces crossed into Renk County through Bab El Nil but were repelled.

He said SAF sent two helicopters that bombed the area twice in the morning.

One soldier was killed and another seven injured.

He said the situation is calm now.

Colonel Aguer said the army is taking measures to protect civilians and stabilize of the area.

The army spokesperson added that Saturday’s attack was the third after SAF stomped a Police station and killed four officers in November.

In December, 14 farmers were kidnapped in a surprise attack in the area.
