The supervisor of Health at the Administrative Unit of Debi in Nuba Mountains is appealing to the community to provide transport for patients for easing their treatment.

Yousif Khamis said many e sick people from the areas around Debi, especially pregnant women, suffer due to lack of transport to rush them to the hospital.

He added that the Health Administrative Unit was responsible for ten health units and its organization, assisted by an international NGO.

Mr Khamis explained that because of the vast territory most units serve more than 28,000 people who need much support.

He stressed that people who live in distant places are carried a long way Ð including pregnant women Ð and after reaching the health unity they do not get efficient treatment.

Mr Khamis said the drugs are provided by an international NGO every month, but is not enough for Debi’s large population.
