The Japanese government launched on Thursday a more than 1 million US dollars project for maintaining the Juba Na Bari community road.

The project will pave the 1.7 kilometre road with side ditches for the improved drainage.

The project is the first attempt to gather joint efforts from the Government of Japan, JICA, UNMISS and the local government.

The Government of Japan provided the funds, JICA did feasibility study, and the Japanese engineering contingent with UNMISS is doing the work on the ground.

The project is expected to benefit more than 3,500 families in the community by improving mobility and living condition.
