Delegates from the ten sates of South Sudan are taking part in a three-day conference on women’s peace and security to develop a national action plan in line with the UN Security Council Resolution 1325.
Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare Consultant Lydia Stone said the conference brought together civil society and the government officials to identify priority polices for women, Bakhita Radio reported.She added that the policies included girls’ education, action in gender based violence and women in politics.
Participant Elizabeth Henry from Northern Bahr el Ghazal said she was very happy because the international community was concerned about peace and protection of the women in South Sudan.
The National Conference on UNSC Resolution1325 is organised by EVE – Organisation for Women Development in collaboration with the National Ministry of Gender, Child and Social Welfare.
The conference concludes on Thursday with recommendations from the participants.
