African Union Chairperson said the situation in South Sudan and Sudan poses a particular set of challenges how to celebrate diversity while pursuing the goal of a united Africa.
Addressing the AU Peace and Security Council Meeting on Friday in Addis Ababa, NKosazana Dlamini Zuma expressed great concern that the implementation of the cooperation agreements South Sudan and Sudan signed on 27 September 2012 was facing difficulties.She called on the Council to pressurize the two states to urgently and unconditionally implement all aspects of the agreements.
Dr Zuma commended the AU High Level Implementation Panel, Ethiopia and partners for working with the two governments to finalize agreement on outstanding issues.
She added that the Panel was continuing to engage with South Sudan and Sudan toward the full implementation of all elements in the AU Roadmap.
Dr Zuma called on the Council to encourage Presidents Salva Kiir and Omar Al Bashir to remain steadfast in their search for peace, security and stability in the interests of their citizens.
