The Archbishop of the Episcopal Church of the Sudan (ECS) on Wednesday said the situation in South Sudan was tense because some elements practised tribal politics in the country and regularly cause problems among the people.
Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul told CRN that the current situation needed all the people to get involved in educating citizens on the meaning of an independent state.He explained that some people think in tribal terms and execute tribal policies that create tensions and fighting among the communities.
Archbishop Deng said this is the right time for the people to come together, understand that they now have an independent nation and have the obligation to accept the rule of law.
He added that though the situation was tense people should not panic but work hard to build peace.
Archbishop Deng was commenting on the current situation in South Sudan following the incidents of violence in Yei, Wau and Rumbek.
