The nurse in charge of the maternity in Rumbek State Hospital said the department has few nurses and midwives who are overloaded with work and are mistreated by clients.
Mary Nyanakot told Good News Radio on Friday that a big hospital like Rumbek should have enough nurses to attend to the patients.She called upon the State Ministry of health to employ nurses who were trained by the Ministry and were left without any work.
Nurse Nyanakot said the health staff at the maternity face hostilities from people who interfere with their work.
She said some nurses and midwives were already beaten by patients.
Nurse Nyanakot appealed to the community to respect the few nurses when they are helping people to save their lives.
Currently, there are only five nurses serving at Rumbek Civil Hospital.
