The Qatar Foundation has offered 12 million US Dollars to South Sudan to support education programmes.

National General Education Joseph Ukel Abango disclosed the news to the press after returning from a three-day World Innovation Summit for Education in Qatar, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said the money would come through UNICEF.

Mr Ukel said the summit centred on collaborating for change in education through the use of computers in the schools.

He explained that he told the summit that South Sudan was still reconstructing the education system and preparing education programs after many years of war.

Mr Ukel said the 12 million dollars would be used to support the education of girls.

The minister of Higher Education Peter Adwok also attended the Fourth World Innovation Summit for Education in Qatar.
