More than one thousand people of Yargot Payam in Aweil East County, Northern Bahr El Ghazal, have voluntarily turned up to repair the road to the payam headquarters and nearby bomas.

Team supervisor Luka Kuol Guot explained to Internews that the local authorities asked Mercy Corps to help to build the road to end the isolation of Yargot payam and the charity accepted the request.

He said the community was willing to fix the road, but lacked tools.

Debora Nyibol Yuot, an old woman, is a member of the road construction team.

She said even though she had no energy, she she could give her little contribution by clearing grass and bringing water.

Mama Debora added that the road will allow to bring sick people quickly to the health stations and makes transport easier even for the blind.

She urged her colleagues to work hard in order to finish the road before six months, the deadline given by Mercy Corps.
