The Council of Ministers has endorsed the nine agreements signed between South Sudan and Sudan last week in Ethiopia and called on the nation to support the deal.
Government spokesperson Barnaba Marial Benjamin told the press after Friday’s Cabinet meeting that President Salva Kiir and the Council of Ministers classified the agreements as excellent, guarantying the viability of both countries. He added that the agreements strengthened the independence of South Sudan.
Dr Marial said the Cabinet decided to send out delegations to explain the agreements to the citizens across the ten states because some people have started criticizing the documents before reading them.
He asked citizens to support the agreements because they gave their confidence to the president and the government to negotiate them.
Dr Marial told the people of Northern Bahr El Ghazal that the demilitarization of Mile 14 was related specifically to the security map required by the African Union for a security corridor along the border between South Sudan and Sudan.
