Four Nigerian peacekeepers from the United Nations African Union Mission In Dafur (UNAMID) were killed and eight wounded in an ambush in El Geneina.
UNAMID spokesperson said the blue helmets peacekeepers were killed Tuesday night in an ambush two kilometres away from regional headquarters in El Geneinaorted.He added that the peacekeepers came under fire from all sides.
UNAMID Force Commander Lt. General Patrick Nyamvumba condemned in the strongest terms the criminal attack on the peacekeepers.
He called on the Government of Sudan to bring the perpetrators to justice.
The killings bring the death toll to 42 peacekeepers since UNAMID was set up.
