Eighteen doctors from Wau Teaching Hospital started a second sit-down strike Monday morning over unpaid wages.
The doctors claimed that the administration failed to meet a 72-hours deadline to pay their salaries for July and August, Voice of Hope reported.This is the second strike contracted doctors and doctors on training make in two weeks over unpaid wages.
The doctors notified the administration on Friday that they would stop working on Monday if they did not receive their money.
Yuhana Malual Majak, spokesperson for the doctors on strike, said the doctors drafted a second memo that was submitted to the administration on Friday ahead of the strike but no feedback came.
Ater Bar Thon, who chairs for the committee of doctors on strike, said the doctors have decided not to resume their duties until they are paid.
He stressed that the doctors could not accept anymore the excuses given by the administration for delaying the salaries.
Appointed doctors both from the state and from the national Ministry of health are on full duty in the hospital.
Wau Teaching Hospital administration declined to comment on the strike.
