Heavy rains made Bussere River in Western Bahr El Ghazal to overflow, taking one person and destroying culverts.
Wau County Commissioner John Peter Miskin said during his visit to Bussere that floods did not destroy properties, Voice of Hope reported. He explained that engineers from Eyat were trying to repair the damaged culverts but the flow of the river was too strong and they had to abandon the work.
The road damage paralyzed the movement of commodities and passengers between Yambio and Wau, stranding a dozen of heavy trucks.
Mr Peter explained that a120-meter long bridge over the river was supposed to be handed over on Friday according to the contract between the National Ministry of Roads and Bridges with Eyat y but works were not completed.
Last week, four people on their way from Bazia were taken by the waters but they were rescued.
