The SPLM deputy chairperson of Western Bahr El Ghazal was set free after being accused by the governor of the state of siding with the Ugandan rebels of Lord’s Resistance Army.

Anthony Joseph Kpandu told the press Thursday in Juba that security personnel arrested him in June and he was released on September 8, spending 96 days in detention, Bakhita Radio reported.

He said no charges were pressed against him and the leadership of the country decided to set him free.

Mr Joseph thanked President Salva Kiir Mayardit for following up the investigation.

Mr Joseph said he forgave all those who plotted against him including the governor.

He added that he vowed not to take any revenge.

Mr Joseph called on every citizen to collaborate with security when investigations are done.
