Women belonging to self help groups in Munuki, Juba, will celebrate on Friday International Day of Peace at St Kizito grounds.

Daughters of Mary Immaculate Mourin Suba told CRN that she expected 400 women to turn up for the celebration.

She said the occasion will be coloured with cultural programmes.

The Indian nun explained that her congregation started up to 80 self help groups of 12 to 15 members each to share problems and mobilize local resources to solve them.

Sr Suba said the celebration aimed to organize women and raise awareness about peace and its sustainability in South Sudan.

She added that women learn food production and other income generating skills in order to earn an income.

The Daughters of Mary Immaculate come from India two months ago. They are active in Juba and Terekeka working with women in peace building and income generating activities.
