The Sudanese Government has accused a foreign aid plane of landing in Kauda, Nuba Mountains, without permission.

Sudan has banned any foreign aid entry in the restive region since war between the government and SPLA-North forces broke out in June last year.

Sudanese humanitarian commissioner in Khartoum, Suleiman Abdel-Rahman, told the official SUNA agency that an aircraft belonging to a foreign aid group landed in the rebel-held town of Kauda.

He said humanitarian assistance was recently delivered to the rebel-held areas via an unspecified neighboring state through airdrop operations.

SPLM-North Secretary in the Nuba Mountains, Mohammed Abdurrahman Anuwa, denied the statements, labelling them false and baseless.

He added that no plane landed in Kauda airstrip.

Mr Anuwa stated that the National Congress Party wants to bring pressure to the SPLM-North and to disrupt the ongoing peace negotiations in Addis Ababa.

The Secretary strongly appealed to the international community to pressurize Khartoum to allow delivery of aid in Nuba Mountains.
